We have started selling "Journey Through the Land and its Crops," a program that allows you to experience the new charms of Unzen.

This plan, themed around the "treasures of the Land" nurtured by volcanoes, allows you to experience the deep connection between Unzen's land and food while exploring rare traditional cultivars and crops grown using farming methods that coexist with nature. A major highlight of the program is the time spent interacting with people who have been farming in this special land for generations, learning about their lifestyles and philosophies as they continue to work with the soil.

This special program, accompanied by a local guide, offers a chance to experience the treasures of the land and volcano with all your senses. Activities include harvesting the rare variety of potato called "Dejima", hardly ever found outside the area of Minami-Kushiyama; visiting Takeda Katatsumuri Farm, which continues to preserve traditional cultivats, and Unzen Tsumura Farm, a flagship in the area for pesticide-free, organic farming; and cooking with the harvested potatoes steamed using the steam from Obama Onsen.
