The Council introduces a wide range of courses, from gentle walking courses for beginners to trekking routes that require more strenuous walking for intermediate and advanced hikers.

FAQ
Tour and travel product development
Q. Can the model itineraries listed on this website be customized?
A. Yes, they can. The listed itineraries are simply examples. We work closely with specialized area coordinators to propose the optimal plan tailored to your clients' interests (trekking, gastronomy, wellness, etc.), budget, and duration of stay. It is also possible to incorporate specific elements into your existing tours, so please feel free to consult with us via the inquiry form.
Q. Is it possible to arrange guides who speak English (or other languages)?
A. Yes, it is. Each area has certified geo-guides available who speak English. Rather than just acting as interpreters, our guides possess a deep understanding of volcanic mechanisms as well as local history and culture, significantly enhancing the value of the travelers' experience. (For languages other than English, please consult with us, and we will coordinate accordingly.)
Q. What is the recommended duration for touring Unzen, Aso, and Kagoshima in a single trip?
A. Since these three volcanic areas span across Kyushu, we recommend a minimum of 4 days and 3 nights when factoring in travel time. For a more relaxed pace, 5 days and 4 nights or more is recommended. By incorporating ferry travel and special activities in each area (such as crater viewing and trekking), you can create highly satisfying itineraries that allow your clients to experience Kyushu's dynamic nature.
Image & Media Usage
Q. Can the photos listed on this website be used in our brochures or on our website?
A. Yes. They can be used free of charge exclusively for the purpose of promoting and driving tourism to the volcanic areas of Kyushu. (Please contact us via the contact form.) When using them, we ask that you include a credit (e.g., ©Kyushu Volcano Tourism). For details, please refer to the terms of use provided when we send the image files.
Q. Can you provide high-resolution image data or promotional video materials?
A. Yes, we can. We have high-resolution data suitable for printing, as well as video materials for digital signage and websites. Please request the necessary materials via the "Contact Form" below, and we will issue a download link for you.
Q. Can we use the materials for posting on social media?
A. We highly welcome it! Please feel free to post them using our hashtags (such as #KyushuVolcano, #VolcanoTourism, etc.). We may also share your posts on our council's official accounts.
Business & Inquiries
Q. Where should we direct our requests for tour bookings and quotes?
A. For specific tour creation and arrangements, please contact us via the contact form on this website. Depending on your request, we will introduce you to reliable land operators or DMCs (Destination Management Companies) affiliated with our council, or direct you to the appropriate point of contact for coordination.
Q. Do you conduct familiarization (FAM) trips for travel agents?
A. Yes, we occasionally organize FAM trips for media and travel agencies. Information regarding upcoming trips is distributed via our newsletter. If you would like to subscribe, please contact us. Additionally, if you are interested in an individual inspection trip, please reach out via the contact form, specifying your preferred timing and objectives.
Safety & Volcanic Information
Q. Where can we check the current status of volcanic activity?
A. Japan has one of the world's most advanced volcano observation systems. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) monitors volcanic activity 24 hours a day, and restricted access areas are strictly managed using a 5-level "Volcanic Alert Level" system. You can always check the latest updates on the JMA's multilingual website linked below. We exclusively provide tours in areas that are confirmed to be safe based on scientific evidence.
